Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy that helps children and adolescents build important life skills while reducing behaviors that may make learning or everyday activities more challenging. Every child is unique, so ABA is designed around each individual's strengths, needs, and goals.  At Sage, we encourage growth in the following areas, and as outlined in each child’s personalized treatment plan:

  • General Behavior Management
  • Social Skills and Play Skills
  • Adaptive/Self-Help Skills
  • Foundational Learning Concepts
  • Communication Skills
  • Independence

Support Locations

Based on availability, services can be provided in different locations. These include home, clinic, and a hybrid model.

  • Clinic: Ideal for situations in which intensive supports are needed, but parents are not able to be present for the full length of the session. Also ideal for situations in which socialization is an area of concern needing to be addressed. Parents can drop off their children for 3-6 hour sessions. During these sessions one-to-one supervision is provided to each child.
  • Home: Ideal for situations in which parents prefer to be present during sessions. Also idea for situations in which issues occurring at the home are the main areas of concern.
  • Hybrid: Includes a combination of days spent working in the clinic and days working in the home. Ideal for situations in which both issues of socialization and behavior in the home are areas of concern.
  • School-Based Services: In Northern Nevada, Sage Health Services partners with the Washoe County School District and additional charter/private schools  to provide ABA services, when appropriate. In the Las Vegas area, school-based services may be available through collaboration with charter and private schools on a case-by-case basis. Availability depends on each school's policies and the individual needs of the client.
  • It is important to note that services in these different locations are based on availability. If a family's preferred location is not available, alternative options, including being put on the waitlist, can be discussed.

Telehealth Services

In some situations, telehealth may be used to support your child's ABA services. Sage Health Services utilizes a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.   When telehealth is incorporated into treatment, your child will continue to receive one-on-one, in-person support from a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), while the supervising Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) may observe sessions, provide real-time coaching, and collaborate with caregivers remotely. Telehealth also offers a convenient way for caregivers to participate in parent training, treatment planning, and progress reviews.
